Tim Williams has been an attorney at Dwyer Williams Cherkoss PC since graduating from the University of Oregon School of Law in 1999. He made partner in 2006 and during his fourteen-year tenure with the firm he has become lead litigator while also emerging as an active member of his personal and professional communities.
Tim has been actively involved with the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) since 2001 and was elected to the Board of Governors in 2005. He is currently OTLA’s Guardian of Civil Justice member, Chair of its Membership Committee, a member of the Development Committee, and a regular CLE presenter. The Association spotlighted Tim in its most recent “Sidebar” publication, and my next few blog posts will summarize what OTLA had to say about our beloved Tim…
“Superhero or Glutton for Punishment?”
It is true and Tim cannot deny it: he wears many hats and thrives in doing so. Tim tries dozens of cases every year while serving on the Oregon State Bar, OTLA, and the American Association for Justice’s Board of Governors. The Guardian spotlight wrote:
“Williams takes his responsibilities very seriously and always pushes himself to the edge and beyond. He is a firm believer in attending meetings in person so the odometer on his car definitely takes some beating. And somehow he manages to volunteer in his community and help raise his two daughters, Emerson and Elliott… When not saving children from burning buildings, serving on a million different boards and committees, or talking smack on the listserv, Williams is busy fighting for his clients. As a lead litigator at the Bend firm of Dwyer Williams Cherkoss, Williams is a strong advocate for injured people both in the courtroom and community alike.”
A Natural Born Leader
In the interview with OTLA that served as the basis for its profile of him, Tim attributed his focus, determination, and ability to lead a team to his college years:
“[Tim attended] Southern Oregon University, where he played forward on their nationally-ranked basketball team. He thrives as a leader, both professionally and in the civic arena. Oregon SuperLawyers has named him a Rising Star for the past three years running. In Deschutes County, Williams is known for his dedication serving the Ronald McDonald House of Central Oregon board as well as the Rotary Club of Bend.”
Tim Williams champions the rights of the injured and underprivileged in his work as well as in his life. The next blog post in this series will discuss what is currently on Tim’s docket and how he feels about the personal injury work he does at Dwyer Williams Cherkoss PC.
