Do the Lawyers at Dwyer Williams Cherkoss Help Each Other Out?
One of the questions people often ask is how our attorneys at Dwyer Williams Cherkoss work together. The answer is simple. We help each other every single day.
Even though we are a smaller firm with six attorneys, we operate with a deep sense of collaboration and support. Every member of our team works hard, but no one works in isolation. We share ideas, cover for one another when needed, and constantly exchange strategies that lead to better results for our clients.
A Team That Truly Supports Each Other
One of the best parts about working at DWC is the genuine sense of friendship among our attorneys and staff. For example, I recently spent time talking with my colleague, Alex Wylie, one of our Portland attorneys, who was down in Bend for depositions. We caught up about cases, but we also talked about family, summer plans, and life outside of work.
It is rare in this profession to have coworkers who feel like true friends, but at DWC, that is exactly what we have. We have intentionally built that culture over the years, and it is a big part of what makes our firm so strong.
Collaboration Over Competition
At many law firms, competition can take over. Lawyers focus on climbing the ladder rather than lifting others up. At DWC, we have built the opposite culture. Our focus is on collaboration, not competition.
If a unique legal motion or argument comes up that one of us has not seen in a while, we get together and brainstorm. Someone might say, “Has anyone handled this before?” and within minutes, another lawyer will reply, “Yes, I did. I’ll send you my motion and case notes right now.”
That kind of teamwork saves time, improves the quality of our work, and builds stronger cases for our clients. We share everything because we want everyone to succeed. When one lawyer wins, the entire firm wins.
Monthly Meetings that Build Connection
We also make it a point to stay connected through monthly meetings. Once a month, we meet for lunch, either in person or on Zoom, and spend about an hour to an hour and a half together.
These meetings are not just about discussing case updates. They are about staying connected as people. We talk about how life is going, what is stressful, and what is going well. We share ideas and questions about cases, but the focus is really on camaraderie.
If a legal question comes up during any other time, we can always walk down the hall or make a quick call to get input from another attorney. The monthly meetings aren’t about that - they are more about maintaining relationships and supporting each other through the challenges that come with personal injury law or even wholly unrelated to what we do in our profession. And I can tell you - much of the conversation stems around how proud we are of our kids and the positive steps they are taking in life!
Strength Through Shared Challenges
Personal injury law is not easy. On the plaintiff’s side, we face tough opposition, emotional clients, and high-stakes cases that can change lives. It can be stressful and demanding.
But like any team that goes through challenges together, those shared experiences make us stronger. Much like the military, working through difficult moments builds unity. We have faced hard cases, long hours, and high-pressure situations as a team, and we have always come out stronger on the other side.
That shared struggle builds trust. We know that when a difficult moment arises, the rest of the team will be there to help.
Why Teamwork Matters for Our Clients
The teamwork inside our firm directly benefits our clients. When you hire Dwyer Williams Cherkoss, you are not hiring one lawyer. You are hiring a team that works together to achieve the best possible outcome for your case.
If one attorney has seen a particular legal issue before, that experience becomes part of your strategy. If a deadline comes up and someone is unavailable, another lawyer steps in without hesitation. If a new argument or motion is needed, it is built with input from multiple experienced attorneys who care deeply about getting it right.
This collaboration ensures that no client ever feels like they are being passed from person to person. Every client receives the benefit of a unified team approach.
A Culture of Friendship, Respect, and Success
The foundation of our success as a firm is built on friendship and respect. We enjoy working together, we care about one another, and we take pride in our shared victories.
At DWC, we lift each other up. We collaborate instead of compete. We communicate openly and celebrate one another’s successes. That culture has made us not only more effective as attorneys but also more fulfilled as people.
When you hire our firm, you get that same spirit working for you. You are represented by lawyers who believe that collaboration, compassion, and teamwork produce the best results.
We are proud of the culture we have built at Dwyer Williams Cherkoss and even more proud of the clients we serve together every day.
